Let’s face it – we all feel confident and healthy with a gorgeous (faux) sun-kissed glow. However, maintaining that coveted just-got-back-from-Bali radiance takes some special attention and care. To help extend your glow (and give you that holiday feeling), here are some expert tips to keep your face tan going on and on.
Prep for Success
Like your body, your face needs a thorough prepping to ensure a smooth, even, long-lasting glow. Before applying self-tanner, ensure your skin is a clean, exfoliated and well-hydrated canvas.
To start, double cleanse (try our hydrating Seed Oil Cleanser followed by our detoxifying and smoothing Fruit Enzyme Cleanser!). Then, use a gentle facial scrub or a chemical exfoliant to remove dead skin cells – focusing on areas prone to dryness and congestion, such as the forehead, nose and chin.
Follow with a lightweight moisturiser in the tanning lead-up. But skip moisturiser before applying your face tan as it can interfere with its development, leading to paler, streakier results.
Switch to a Tanning Micromist
Like a serum you can spritz, our Antioxidant Face Tanning Micromist delivers a gorgeous, natural, inside-out glow with hydrating, plumping and radiance-boosting benefits. Foolproof to apply (no tools or applicators needed), it uses innovative micromist technology for optimal delivery of ingredients to the skin, ensuring even coverage and a flawless finish within 6 hours.
To maintain an even, all-over tan, consider pairing your face tan with our bestselling Bali Bronzing Foam for your body. This self-tanning foam delivers a flawless, natural-looking tan that develops in just 2 hours, ensuring your glow is consistent from head to toe. Enriched with hydrating ingredients, it keeps your skin moisturized while providing a streak-free finish!

Hydrate: Inside and Out!
Hydration is essential to ensure your tan is non-streaky and long-lasting. Drinking loads of water keeps your skin hydrated from within, prolonging its radiance. While moisturising your skin externally locks in moisture, preventing dryness and peeling that can fade your tan prematurely.
For ultra-glowy results, always choose a hydrating face tanner like our Tanning Micromist – formulated with HyalurosmoothTM to boost skin hydration by 40% in only 30 minutes*.
And, last but not least, ensure your AM and PM skincare routine includes a nourishing facial moisturiser, like our Antioxidant Glow Cream. This is your BFF to replenish moisture and keep your skin supple and smooth – while extending the life of your tan.

Protect Your Tan with Simple Skincare Swaps
To boost the longevity of your tan, opt for gentle cleansers, alcohol-free toners and hydrating moisturisers. On the other hand, avoid excessive exfoliation and harsh skincare products that can strip away colour and disrupt the skin's natural balance.
Also be aware that ingredients like retinol and AHAs will fade your tan faster, so you’ll need to top up regularly if using (more on that later).
Avoid Excessive Sun Exposure
While a tan can provide a sun-kissed glow, excessive sun exposure can cause your facial tan to fade more quickly. So, wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher daily to protect your skin from harmful UV rays and prevent premature ageing. And reapply sunscreen every two hours – especially if spending extended periods outdoors.
Re-apply to Keep That Glow Going
While these tips can help you delay the fade out, your facial tan will naturally shed over time. Regular touch-ups are, therefore, a must to maintain a consistent colour. For the easiest application and instant top-ups, our Tanning Micromist is your year-round glow-to. Apply every second to third day for sun-kissed radiance – year-round!
And don’t forget, for a flawless, head-to-toe tan, pair our Tanning Micromist with our Bali Bronzing Foam—you can get both at a special price with the Tan Masters Set!
